Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich’s wife, Jessica Miller, has expanded her fashion career with a footwear collaboration as the band prepares for its Las Vegas Sphere residency. The American model, who married Ulrich in 2015, has designed a vegan evening sandal for luxury footwear brand Aera, marking a new step in her career after nearly three decades in modeling.
The collaboration was revealed in October 2026, with Miller’s design scheduled to reach stores in December. Her husband, meanwhile, has been preparing for Metallica’s 24-show Sphere engagement, which runs from October 2026 through March 2027.
Miller, 42, has worked with major fashion houses including Calvin Klein, Chanel and Chloé. Although her marriage to the Metallica co-founder has attracted public attention, she has maintained an independent career in fashion.
Jessica Miller Has Worked as a Model Since Her Teenage Years
Jessica Miller was born on February 21, 1984, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She began pursuing modeling at 14 and was discovered by Corrie Singer of Next Model Management in 1999.
Her international career developed quickly. She appeared on the cover of Russian Vogue in March 2000 and made her Paris Fashion Week debut in 2001, walking for Lanvin, Yves Saint Laurent and Thierry Mugler.
A major breakthrough came in 2002 when she secured an exclusive contract with Calvin Klein. She subsequently appeared in campaigns and editorial projects for several international fashion brands.
In September 2024, Miller discussed her long career in an interview with EL PAÍS. She was working with Chloé under creative director Chemena Kamali and reflected on the challenges of remaining in modeling as the industry changed.
“Getting older is a gift,” Miller said.
Lars Ulrich and Jessica Miller Married in 2015
Ulrich and Miller knew each other for several years before beginning their romantic relationship. Their paths crossed at concerts, backstage gatherings and music industry events.
During a May 2023 appearance on Toby Morse’s One Life One Chance podcast, Miller explained that they initially spent time together as friends while dating other people.
“Music — just hanging out around shows and concerts,” Miller said when asked how they met.
Their friendship eventually developed into a relationship after both became single. The couple became engaged in July 2013 and married in 2015.
Ulrich was born on December 26, 1963, in Gentofte, Denmark, making him 62 years old as of November 2026. Miller is 42, with an age difference of approximately 20 years between them.
Lars Ulrich Has Three Sons From Previous Relationships
Ulrich was previously married to Debbie Jones, whom he wed in 1988. Their marriage ended in 1990.
His second wife was emergency medicine physician Skylar Satenstein. They married in 1997 and have two sons, Myles and Layne, before their marriage ended.
Ulrich later had a relationship with Danish actress Connie Nielsen. They welcomed a son, Bryce, in 2007.
Myles and Layne have followed their father into music. The brothers formed the rock band Taipei Houston, which released its debut album, Once Bit Never Bored, in November 2022.
Ulrich and Miller have no publicly reported children together.
Jessica Miller Discussed Her Marriage and Life With Ulrich
In a September 2024 interview, Miller spoke about how she and Ulrich manage their careers and frequent travel.
“Lars and I have always understood each other because the nature of our jobs is similar in some ways,” she said.
She also revealed that Ulrich occasionally helps with her modeling work by taking photographs when her agency requests updated images.
Miller has been involved in animal welfare advocacy and serves on the board of Animal Place, a farm animal sanctuary. Her interest in vegan living has also influenced her professional projects.
In October 2026, Miller introduced her collaboration with Aera, a luxury footwear company producing vegan shoes in Italy. The design, called the Jessica, is an emerald-green satin sandal with delicate straps and a four-inch heel.
The project followed her earlier interest in the company’s footwear and developed into a broader professional relationship involving modeling, investment and design.
Miller’s sandal is scheduled to become available in December 2026 as part of Aera’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection. Ulrich continues performing with Metallica, whose Las Vegas Sphere residency extends into March 2027.
