Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and his wife, Lori Huang, have donated $75 million to Vanderbilt University to support its new San Francisco campus. Announced in July 2026, the contribution will establish the Jen-Hsun and Lori Huang College of Art, Architecture and Design, bringing renewed attention to the couple’s marriage and philanthropic activities.
The donation is among the most significant educational contributions made by the couple, who have been married since 1985. Lori, formerly known as Lori Mills, met Jensen while they were engineering students at Oregon State University. They have two adult children, Spencer and Madison, who both work at Nvidia.
The Huangs have increasingly directed their wealth toward education, scientific research and community organizations through their private foundation. Despite her husband’s international prominence, Lori has maintained a relatively private public profile.
Who Is Jensen Huang’s Wife Lori Huang?
Lori Huang is an American philanthropist and former engineering student who serves as president of the Jen-Hsun and Lori Huang Foundation.
She studied at Oregon State University, where she met Jensen in an electrical engineering class. Their shared academic interests helped establish a relationship that eventually developed into marriage.
Lori has generally avoided public interviews and media appearances. Information about her professional career before becoming involved in philanthropy remains limited.
Her foundation, established in 2007 and based in Palo Alto, California, supports higher education, scientific research, public health and community organizations.
Jensen serves as the foundation’s secretary and chief financial officer, while Lori holds the position of president.
Jensen Huang Met Lori Mills at Oregon State University
Jensen and Lori met while studying engineering at Oregon State University. Jensen was 17, while Lori was 19.
During a November 2024 appearance at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Jensen recalled how he approached Lori when they were classmates.
“I was the youngest kid in school, in class. There were 250 students and 3 girls,” Huang said.
He explained that he used their engineering coursework as an opportunity to spend time with her.
“I walked up to her and I said, ‘do you want to see my homework?'” Huang recalled.
He also proposed that they study together every Sunday, promising that their regular sessions would help her achieve excellent grades.
Their relationship continued after university. Jensen reportedly told Lori that he intended to become a company CEO by age 30.
The couple married in 1985, approximately five years after they first met. Jensen subsequently worked at LSI Logic and Advanced Micro Devices before co-founding Nvidia in 1993.
Jensen and Lori Huang Have Two Children
Jensen and Lori Huang have two adult children, Spencer Huang and Madison Huang. Both have pursued professional careers connected to their father’s technology company.
Spencer previously worked in the hospitality industry and operated a cocktail bar in Taipei, Taiwan. He later joined Nvidia, where he has worked in product management.
Madison also worked in hospitality before joining Nvidia. She has held a director-level position in the company’s marketing operations.
Nvidia’s fiscal 2026 annual report disclosed that Jensen Huang’s daughter received approximately $1.232 million in total compensation, while his son received approximately $1.32 million.
The figures included compensation and equity-related awards under the company’s employment arrangements. Nvidia stated that the compensation was determined using practices applicable to employees in comparable positions.
Jensen and Lori Huang Donate $75 Million to Vanderbilt
On July 22, 2026, Vanderbilt University announced a $75 million commitment from Jensen and Lori Huang to support its expansion into San Francisco.
The university plans to establish a new campus focused on engineering, entrepreneurship, design and related academic programs.
The contribution will support the Jen-Hsun and Lori Huang College of Art, Architecture and Design, named in recognition of the couple.
The San Francisco campus is expected to open in 2027 and eventually serve approximately 1,000 undergraduate and graduate students.
The Huangs’ gift also helped attract additional philanthropic commitments, bringing the university’s announced investment in the campus to more than $100 million by July 2026.
The Couple’s Foundation Supports Universities and AI Research
The Huangs have made substantial contributions to Oregon State University, where their relationship began.
In October 2022, the university announced a $50 million gift from the couple to support a major research facility, the Jen-Hsun Huang and Lori Mills Huang Collaborative Innovation Complex.
The project was designed to strengthen research in artificial intelligence, robotics, materials science and other engineering fields.
Their foundation has also supported Stanford University, Johns Hopkins University and organizations working in mental health and community services.
In May 2026, a regulatory filing disclosed that the foundation had purchased computing capacity from CoreWeave for donation to universities and nonprofit research institutions. The resources were valued at approximately $108.3 million.
The computing donations were intended to support scientific research and artificial intelligence projects.
As of November 2026, Jensen remains Nvidia’s president and CEO, while Lori continues serving as president of their family foundation. Their $75 million Vanderbilt commitment remains part of the university’s plans to open its San Francisco campus in 2027.
